Homepages
So what is your homepage? A news site? A sports page? A forum? Your own site? A search engine?
If your anything like me... it's probably the last one... a search engine. If you don't already know the address you want to go to... you want to type in two words (the most common search query length) and hit the first link that pops up. That's why I've always kept Google as my homepage. It loads quickly and it's simple. There's no bombardment of ads or pop-ups or anything else that just gets in the way.So just recently I took more than one second to look at the Google homepage and tried out the Personalized Home link at the top right of the screen... and I'm glad that I did. Now I still get the quick load and zero ads that I loved so much... with other stuff that I want to see when I sit down to find stuff on the internet. I get a clock and calendar... weather and movies for my neck of the woods... random quotes... words of the day... and the news that I want to see. You can also just drag and drop it around the screen to arrange it the way you want!! Sweet!
Take a moment today and set up Google as your homepage and customize it to fit your needs.
I'm sure you'll be stoked on it like I am!

You should re-phrase your latest slogan from "the Internet is taking over the world" to "GOOGLE is taking over the world" because they are definitely leading the way. BTW, I thought of you in Faculty Forum today because we had a VP from Apple come and talk about emerging learning enviornments...basically how the Internet is going to take over our educational system. But you already know this, cuz the Internet is going to take over the world :-) -Kirsten
It's the truth... you'll do everything over the internet in the not too soon future. It's quickly making everything excessible... anywhere and anytime!
Also... I just realized... that the weather I just posted up shows all high 70s for the rest of the week here in SB. I hope that doesn't offend anyone from the midwest where its frigid right now! :o)
I am from the midwest and that definitely does NOT offend me because I am here now. Hooray for not being in cold chicago!

My name is Gregg and I was given your contact info through Jasmine after I asked her who designed her logo... I am also a designer and wanted to shoot some ideas off you if that is ok. I'd love to see what you think of some of my work, check out my blog and if you can, give me a hand on the Designer's Block post... I hope to hear back from you!

Yeah! I discovered it this summer and I even have my gmail account show my last few messages on my home page. And I have all the info I want whenever I log in at any computer.
I will have to have Rob check it out. You know how he is stuck on MSN. If he sees he can set it up the way he likes he may go for it.
Great tip ... I'm going to try it. When I clicked to personalize, one of the options that came up on mine (somehow) was UCSB Gaucho sports calendar ... very cool. You should add that!
