The Most Dangerous

I'm not entirely sure who I had this conversation with recently... but I know I talked with someone about injuries in sports. We were trying to figure out...
"What are the worst injuries you can sustain and in what sport(s)?"
We talked about: hockey, golf, baseball, soccer, football, and lots of other stuff. We brought up everything from a puck hitting you in the face to a driven golf ball hitting you in the ribs... or even dropping a dart on your sandaled foot.
Now... having played baseball and pitched all through college, I was a little partial to the injuries surrounding my position. I just couldn't think of a more painful thing than having a baseball (almost 1/3 pound) hit you at 80-100 m.p.h.... ANYWHERE!! Unfortunately, just tonight I was reminded of how this HAS to be the worst... potentially deadly... injury in sports!

However, if you can't find the video there... please check it out by following the link below... then visit MLB.com anyway! Also... make sure to take a moment and pray for Rafael Soriano and his family over the next day or so!!

Ooooh, that just made my stomach turn :(
I always thought surfing was the the most dangerous sport (I mean, at least in baseball you don't have to worry about losing a limb to a shark!?!), but i reserve the right to change my mind!
yeah, darts can be pretty dangerous... although if you are as good as I am, you never have to worry about them falling on your foot because they go straight into the bull's eye... haha :-)
Rebecca
Jasmine - Yeah... there definitely aren't big animals who will eat you out on the baseball field. I guess that automatically makes surfing a little bit more dangerous overall! :o)
Rebecca - Is that what they are calling the wall below the board these days? I never knew they called that the bull's eye!?!? :o) Unfortunately, I think my toes are not as safe as yours. I've had a few too many darts bounce off the board and head straight for my feet!
My vote is on polevaulting as the most dangerous...A guy in our district snapped the pole in mid air and it pierced him... OUCH!
Sooo is that guy ok? Have you heard?
Shyla - I've heard about some gnarly pole vaulting accidents. That might have to rank pretty high up on the list.
I just checked it out and it looks like everything is gonna be alright for Soriano. You can check out the report HERE. Here is a small excerpt:
"At this time, Rafael is doing well," Seattle team physician Edward Khalfayan said. "He's had a second CT scan that looked good. We're not concerned that he has a brain injury other than a concussion. We're expecting him to recover from this injury and not have any permanent residuals from this."
bowling can be pretty dangerous too. especially if you release the ball as fast and furious as Brett does. I think we clocked one of his balls moving at a lightning speed of 4 and a half mph!!
okay... you still kicked everyones butt
DANG,
AS A FELLOW WESTMONSTER I AM REMINDED OF A TIME WHEN BRETT WAS TAGGED WITH A COMEBACKER FROM A BATTER. MIGHT HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SCENE. SORIANO ON THE OTHER HAND WE NEED TO BE PRAYING FOR HIM... GEEZZZZZ ANY UPDATES YET.
I WISH YOU ALL COULD HAVE SCENE BRETT FALL TO THE GROUND... SO FUNNY...LOVE YOU BRO!
